Privacy Policy
Last updated 2026-10-03
Statalyzer ("we", "us") runs statalyzer.ca (the stats site) and app.statalyzer.ca (the Fantasy tools). It's a personal, non-commercial project run by the Statalyzer team in Ontario, Canada. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and what you can do about it. We follow Canada's federal privacy law (PIPEDA).
The short version
- You don't need an account to use the stats site or the Fantasy tools.
- We don't run ads, we don't sell your information, and we don't use tracking cookies.
- We count page visits with our own analytics tool, which runs on our own server. We don't record your IP address in it.
- Our traffic goes through Cloudflare, which protects the site and sees basic connection data.
What we collect
When you visit either site
To count visits, we record:
- the page you viewed
- the site that sent you there (the "referrer"), if your browser shares it
- your browser's language setting
- your browser type, operating system and device type, taken from the "user agent" your browser sends with every request
This goes to Umami, an analytics tool we host ourselves. Your browser doesn't load any analytics script. The count is recorded on our server when the page is served, and your IP address is not passed to it.
Cloudflare
Every request to our sites goes through Cloudflare, a security and network provider. Cloudflare processes your IP address and request details to deliver the page and block attacks. It may set a short-lived security cookie (for example __cf_bm) to tell people from bots. Cloudflare handles this data under its own privacy policy, and may process it outside Canada, including in the United States.
The Fantasy tools
When you use app.statalyzer.ca, you get a temporary sandbox. It holds the league settings, team names and rosters you type in, and it lives only in the server's memory. It is not saved to our database. It's linked to a random code in your page address (?sbx=…), so anyone you share that exact link with can see and change your sandbox. The sandbox is deleted after 24 hours without use, or whenever the app restarts.
The app itself doesn't set any cookies. (Cloudflare's security cookie, described above, can still apply.)
We never ask for your email address, phone number, real name, or payment details. If you email us, we'll use your email address only to reply.
Why we use it
- Visit counts: to see which pages people use and what to improve.
- Cloudflare data: to deliver the site and keep it safe.
- Sandbox data: only to run the tools you're using.
We don't use your information for advertising or profiling, and we don't sell, rent or trade it. We share it only with Cloudflare, as described above, or if the law requires us to.
How long we keep it
- Visit counts: 18 months, then deleted.
- Sandbox data: up to 24 hours after your last use, and less if the app restarts.
- Server backups: our database is backed up regularly. Deleted data can stay in older backups for up to 14 days before they're replaced.
How we protect it
The sites run on one server we control, located in Canada, so your data is stored in Canada. The only exception is Cloudflare's processing, described above. The analytics dashboard and admin tools can't be reached from the public internet, and traffic to the sites is encrypted (HTTPS).
No system is perfectly secure. If a breach creates a real risk of significant harm to you, we'll report it to the Privacy Commissioner of Canada and post a notice on the site. We don't have your email address, so a site notice is how we'd tell you.
Your choices and rights
- See or correct your data: ask us what we hold about you.
- Delete your data: a sandbox deletes itself 24 hours after you last use it. Closing the tab doesn't delete it sooner, because the link still works until then.
- Block analytics: the visit counter doesn't use cookies, so there's nothing to opt out of in your browser. Ask us if you want your visits excluded.
- Withdraw consent: stop using the site.
Email [email protected] and we'll reply within 30 days. If you're not happy with our answer, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Children
Statalyzer isn't aimed at children.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If a change affects what we collect or how we use it, we'll also put a notice on the site.
